Who I am
This website is run by Anna the Celebrant ("I", "me", "my"). I'm responsible for any personal information you share with me. If you have any questions about this policy or how I use your information, please get in touch at anna@annathecelebrant.com.
What information I collect
When you get in touch or book a ceremony with me, I may collect your name, email address, phone number and postal address; the date, location and type of ceremony; the names of the people involved, including children being named; and personal details and stories you choose to share so I can create a ceremony that feels truly yours. If you share information about religious or philosophical beliefs, health, or other sensitive matters, I will only use it with your explicit consent and only to prepare your ceremony. I also collect basic technical information when you visit my website, such as your IP address, browser type and pages visited, through cookies (see below).
How and why I use your information
I use your information to respond to your enquiries, to plan, prepare and deliver your ceremony, to send invoices and take payment, to keep business and accounting records, and to improve my website. I rely on the following lawful bases: performing a contract with you, or taking steps at your request before we agree one; my legitimate interests in running and improving my business; complying with legal obligations such as tax and accounting rules; and your consent, where I ask for it (for example, for sensitive information, marketing emails, or using photos or testimonials). You can withdraw your consent at any time by contacting me.
Photos and testimonials
I will only publish photos from your ceremony, or your testimonial, on my website or social media with your permission. You can ask me to remove them at any time.
Who I share your information with
I never sell your information. I only share it with trusted service providers who help me run my business, such as my website host (Wix), email provider, payment provider and accountant, and only as much as they need. I may also share information where the law requires it.
International transfers
Some of my service providers, including my website platform, may store data outside the UK. Where this happens, I make sure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as UK-approved contract terms or transfers to countries the UK recognises as providing adequate protection.
How long I keep your information
If you make an enquiry but don't go on to book, I keep your details for up to 12 months. For booked ceremonies, I keep your details for 2 years after the ceremony, and financial records for six years to meet HMRC requirements. After that, your information is securely deleted.
Cookies
My website uses essential cookies to make it work and, with your consent, analytics cookies to help me understand how visitors use the site. You can accept or reject non-essential cookies using the banner on the site and change your choice at any time. You can also manage cookies through your browser settings.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to access the personal information I hold about you; ask me to correct anything that's inaccurate; ask me to delete your information; ask me to restrict or object to how I use it; ask for a copy of your information in a portable format; and withdraw your consent at any time where I rely on it. To use any of these rights, just email me at anna@annathecelebrant.com. I'll respond within one month.
How to complain
If you're unhappy with how I've handled your information, please contact me first at anna@annathecelebrant.com and I'll do my best to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

I may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page, with the date it was last updated.
